Silicone implants, tissue expanders and silicone gel sheets for scar prevention and treatment.
Silicone implants are divided into two families: breast implants and implants for body contouring (buttocks and male chest).

Smooth surface (Polysmoooth™)
Micro-textured
MESMO®

3. Are these surfaces available for all products?

Polysmoooth™ is available for the gluteal and male pectoral line. MESMO ® is available for breast implants (round and anatomical) and for the gluteal line.
Microthane® is only available for round and anatomical breast implants.

4. Does POLYTECH sell smooth breast implants?

Outside Brazil, yes. In Brazil, we are still in the registration process.

5. What are silicone gel sheets for?

For the prevention and treatment of hypertrophic scars and keloids. The main function of the sheets is to ensure an aligned and imperceptible scar for the patient. For the treatment of existing scars, they also work, however they require a longer process.

6. What types of shapes are there on POLYTECH implants?

There are four shapes: low, moderate, high and extra high.

7. How do I find the perfect implant for me?

POLYTECH has a wide product portfolio, with different surfaces, formats and shapes. The doctor will measure your breast and, in line with your personal expectations regarding the expected result, will find the ideal implant.

8. Does POLYTECH have microtextured implants?

Only microtextured implants. This information is based on the new table and roughness measurement of implants EN ISO 14607:2018, both POLYtxtr and MESMOr are microtextured

9. What are the main benefits of Microthane®?

Microthane® implants have the main benefits of high adherence and lower overall complication rates (such as capsular contracture, displacement and rotation of the implant).

10. What are the main benefits of MESMO®?

Easier deployment due to softness; allows for smaller incisions; the implant edge is imperceptible to the touch.

11. Does POLYTECH sell B-Lite in Brazil?

For now, we do not have sales of this line in Brazil.

12. What about calf implants?

We are in the registration renewal phase.

13. Is it necessary to change breast implants every 10 years?

No! POLYTECH’s recommendation is to only change implants if necessary. The ideal is to follow up annually and seek your doctor if you notice any abnormality.

14. Does POLYTECH provide coverage for its products? Which is?

We have the IOE – Implants of Excellence program that offers the following coverage:
15 years for Baker III and IV capsular contracture, displacement or rotation of Microthane® implants
10 years for Baker III and IV capsular contracture for implants of the Same® and POLYtxt® line
Lifetime membrane rupture coverage for all breast implants and gluteal implants.

15. How old is POLYTECH?

POLYTECH was founded in 1986.

16. Is POLYTECH the only German brand in the market for silicone implants and body contouring? What does that mean?

Yes, in Germany POLYTECH is the only silicone implant manufacturer. The German seal stands for: high credibility, extremely strict quality control, and a focus on innovation so that the safety of doctors and patients is above all. The entire manufacturing process is carried out within the same industrial park, which guarantees 100% traceability, not outsourcing any part of the process.

17. What are the quality tests applied to POLYTECH products?

Tests required by ISO 10993 are:

  • Cytotoxicity
  • Sensitization
  • Genotoxicity
  • Implantation

Not to mention the ones that are not required, which are:

  • Hemocompatibility
  • Systemic toxicity
  • Irritation
  • Chronic toxicity
  • carcinogenicity
  • Toxicity for reproduction and development.

We also have:

  • Membrane elongation test: Requirement (450% elongation) / POLYTECH implants (850% elongation) – nearly double what is required by regulatory bodies;
  • Fatigue, impact and static rupture testing: Requirement (2 million cycles) / Our tests (36 million cycles) – that is 18 times more than what is required by the standard.

18. Why doesn't POLYTECH have FDA approval?

FDA is required for brands and products marketed in the US. POLYTECH does not operate in the US – and therefore does not have an FDA.

19. What does CE mean?

The CE Marking is an indication of mandatory compliance for various products marketed in the European Economic Area. This mark indicates that a product complies with European Union legislation in requirements such as safety, hygiene and environmental protection – thus being accredited to circulate throughout the European Economic Area.

20. Where can I buy POLYTECH products in my region?

POLYTECH serves all of Brazil. Visit our website and on the page Find a representative  and select the region where your surgery will take place to speak with our representative closest to you.

21. How much does a POLYTECH silicone implant cost?

Contact the representative in your region and clear all your doubts with him.

22. What are the types of incisions to perform a breast augmentation with a silicone implant?

The inframammary, made below the breast, right at the bra mark; the periareolar, performed on the areola; the axillary, made in the armpit; the T, for cases of mastopexy.

23. What is the relationship between ALCL and silicone implants? What is POLYTECH's position on this matter?

The association of silicone implants and BIA ALCL is still being studied. POLYTECH works together with the most competent health bodies in Europe and has offered all possible support so that we have more clarity on this topic. It is important to remember that today in the world, more than 15 million women have silicone implants, with 574 cases of BIA ALCL. That is, an absurdly low risk of happening. We are not, in any way, diminishing the importance of the subject, but we reinforce that routine exams are the best allies

24. I have a textured implant. Should I take it off to avoid the risk of ALCL?

No! Implants should only be changed in case of any serious changes and if recommended by your doctor. Have regular checkups with your surgeon and talk openly about it with him.

25. Why choose a textured breast implant over a smooth one?

If we are going to analyze the history of breast implants, the smooth ones were the first generation. Over the years, other surface options were created that ensured a reduction in complication rates. Especially in capsular contracture, which in smooth cases can reach 50%. In textured, this rate reaches a maximum of 15%.

26. If the implant breaks inside my body, does the silicone leak?

No! Silicone gel has high cohesiveness and memory effect.

27. What is capsular contracture?

Capsular contracture is an inflammatory process that protects the body, which creates a scar tissue capsule that surrounds and isolates the foreign body.

28. Do all implants cause contracture?

Capsule formation takes place in any and all foreign bodies implanted in the body. Whether it’s a silicone implant or an orthopedic implant. What sets the capsule apart is the degree of pressure it exerts on the implant. Depending on the degree, it can cause breast deformation and pain.

29. How to treat capsular contracture?

In the most severe cases, which are contractures III and IV, where the patient feels a lot of pain and the breast is deformed, implant removal is the indicated treatment. In the case of a severe contracture, the surgeon can replace the implant with the contracture for another one in the same surgical procedure.
